Getting to Villa Brigitte is very easy. We are located in Sosua, Dominican Republic (DR) and
We are also only a 20 minute drive away from Puerto Plata airport (airport code POP), a major international
airport with direct flights from many international cities. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:
Does your package include airfare?
With clients flying in from all parts of the world we are not in the position to arrange your flight. Please check
with your travel agency or any online travel site for flight connections. American Airlines (AA) and Continental
have direct daily flights from New York and Miami into our island (Dominican Republic). AA is the major
carrier to the island, for flight connections please go to http://www.aa.com/ or JetBlue and enter POP (Puerto
Plata) as the destination airport.
Most clients connect with the morning flight out of Miami with AA which arrives here early afternoon. Other
clients are coming in on earlier or later flights from New York (JFK or Newark).
Do I need a passport?
Foreigners traveling to the Dominican Republic need a passport or equivalent national identity document.
How long can I stay?
Tourist cards allow a visitor to legally stay up to 30 days. Please keep
your tourist card safe when in the DR as you will need it when leaving the country.
What happens if I lose my tourist card?
You will be assumed to have stayed past 30 days and be fined approximately $20 U.S. at the airport.
How do I get a visa?
Please visit your local Dominican embassy (for stays over 30 days).
Can I stay longer than 30 days?
Yes - you must travel to the Santo Domingo, the capital, and ask for an extension. If you do not do this, you will
be fined around $10 U.S. at the airport.
What airport should I fly into?
We recommend flying into Puerto Plata (POP) airport. It is an
international airport that is only 15 minutes from our resort. A cab ride
from POP to the resort should be around $30 U.S. The following airports are also options:
Santo Domingo - (4 hour drive). A taxi should be around
$100 to $120 U.S. each way. You can also take a bus here for around $10 to $20 U.S. (Please note that if you
take a bus to our resort, you will need to take a cab from the bus station to the resort.)
Santiago - (1.5 hour drive). A taxi from Santiago
should be around $70 to $80 U.S. each way. You can also take a bus here for around $5 to $10 U.S. (Please note
that if you take a bus to our resort, you will need to take a cab from the bus station to the hotel.)
We do NOT recommend flying into Punta Cana airport as it is about a 6 to 7 hour drive to the beachfront
apartments.
Can "Villa Brigitte" arrange taxi pickup?
We only can arrange taxi pickup for you from Puertp Plata airport.
The taxi driver will be waiting for you when you arrive and have a
folder in his hand with your name on it.
What do I do for money?
The DR generally prefers cash over credit cards so it is a good idea to bring cash with you. When you first get
to the airport, it is a good idea to exchange a small amount of money, $30 to $40 U.S. in pesos. Afterwards, it
will be very easy to exchange money at a better rate in downtown Sosua or Cabarete.
Can I use my ATM card?
Yes - there are several ATM's and banks in Sosua and Cabarete. Don't forget your security code!
Can I use my credit card?
It depends - many shops, hotels, restaurants, and bars in
Sosua and Cabarete do not take credit cards so it is a good idea to bring cash.
Does "Villa Brigitte" accept credit cards?
No -We accept only cash .
Should I rent a car?
We always recommend our clients to rent a car, that is the best way to explore the island. To reach Sosua (3km)
or Cabarete (8km) you can use also public transportation
